Remembering Lily Heyen Withrow

March 17th, Saint Patrick's Day is Lily Withrow's birthday as well. Lily was an extremely talented writer, a passionate activist, an author, a reporter and a friend. I first met Lily as an member of the John Stewart online community: Bloodlines. We were already e-mail buddies when I later got to meet her in person in 2003 at (Kingston) Trio Fantasy Camp in Scottsdale AZ.
Lily and I were kindred spirits as they say. Among other things we bonded on was our mutual love of animals and disdain for then president George W. Bush. (Lily gave me a tee shirt once that had the international "NO" symbol, red circle with the line through it over his four letter name).

Lily lost here battle with cancer in May of 2005. She was never one to complain about her illness and preferred not to talk about it. Lily fought for things she could change and accepted the things she couldn't. She left behind a loving husband Lew, and son Miko. She also left a piece of herself in her book: I AM, Visions from Lily's Pad. It's a wonderful collection of poetry and prose by an equally wonderful human being. Happy birthday Lily...
(BTW, You can order Lily's book through the link to the right).

We'll see.
