Potato Salad Picnic

It is a kinder and gentler me today. I would like to let off steam regarding how outraged I am about Presidente Diablo pardoning one of his crook-cronies, but too much political commentary is bad for one's blood pressure. So I thought I would post about the fifth annual First Potato Salad of Summer Picnic that occurred a couple of weeks ago.

My friends Gene and Angela had a slew of Bloodliners on their back deck for elbow licking good chicken, and of course the signature potato salad. There was an endless supply of Point Beer products as well as Moose Drool, and once the musicians had partaken in the food and beverage the strumming began. Now there were some damn good pickers there playing everything from resonator mandolin to peddle steel. It was hard to keep up with the likes of Fred Grittner (a real pro) and Bill Rost but "it wasn't how good you are, it's how much fun can we have".

This event is a un-official warm up for Kingston Trio Fantasy Camp held in August down in Scottsdale AZ. There were people on the deck from PA., CA., WI., IL., and MN. The highlight however was webcamming in Jan Hauenstein from Germany!

We also recorded the Clancy Brothers version of Nancy Whiskey for Tom DeLisle. By all reports it moved him to attend the festivities in Phoenix. Tom's not in the best of health, Eddy knows. So thanks to all who made the annual trek for that PDG (pretty darn good) potato salad and Annie for taking all the pictures like the one above.
