OK, the pressure is on to complete my Brush with the Stars "series". The next two of these entries both occurred at the Quiet Knight folk club on Belmont Ave. in Chicago. This "brush" doesn't have near the bristles that Waylon did, but none the less it's worth recalling.
Linda had recently broken up with The Stone Ponies and was launching her solo career (1969ish - '70). Whats of particular interest is the fact that her back-up musicians were two fellas she introduced as "Tits & Ass" (later they would be founding members of the Eagles).
All four of the original Eagles toured with her in 1971 briefly, but these couple of guys (Don Henley and Glen Frey) were on stage that night. Well enough of the history lesson, its "brush" time.
To get to the men's room at the Quiet Knight you had to walk past the green room. In doing so I peered in over the Dutch door only to see Linda, Glen and Don with the club owner Richard Harding and some other folks. Somebody opened the bottom half of the door and shouted "come on in"! And I did. So for about the time it takes to drink a couple half warm beers and kibitz with the band, I rubbed elbows with some of the future giants of the Country/rock era. Right place-right time (again).

I now own the dvd of the Johnny Cash show and June was not happy that Linda was singing bare butted, she said, "Go to the store and get that girl some bloomers!"
It's a great dvd if you ever get a chance to watch it... knowing you though... you lived it... HA... just kidding...
Great story.

I love listening to the music on your site! All this time I didn't realize Different Drum was Linda Ronstadt. Cool. Sometimes I just let your blog "play" in the background. Better than Pandora Radio! :)- Eileen
