The Winter Solstice Approaches

Sunday will "officially" usher in winter. However it has felt like winter for the whole month of December. Considerable snowfall coupled with below zero temps has Wisconsin in an icy grip. The forecast for the next few days includes Winter Storm Warnings through the weekend. On the evening of 12/21/08 friends and neighbors will gather at Jim Prasch's farm for the annual Solstice ritual (party) and brave the frigid night air to burn a huge bonfire and celebrate the season much as the Druids did long ago. It's become a welcome custom that I look forward to on an annual basis.

The solstice party was very fun. The stars were awesome and the bonfire was well worth the walk out behind the barn in 20 below wind chills!
Best wishes fellow druid! - Eileen

pictures and stories from the conversations would be cool... so to speak.

Happy new year.
