Darcy Farrow was made popular ( in folk circles) by Ian & Sylvia on their album Early Morning Rain. I was fortunate enough to have discovered Steve Gillette in 1967. He had co-written the song with Tom Campbell. It's a folk classic for the ages.
I wore that first Vanguard album out, (along with that of the Allen-Ward Trio). I never got to see Steve live until a few years ago at the Jensen Center in Amherst WI. I had no idea that he had teamed up with Cindy Mangsen, nor did I know he (they) had a bunch of CDs out. At intermission I talked with Steve and told him I had his first album on vinyl, to which he responded "So you're the guy who bought that".
We chatted until we were the last two people in the lobby and the house lights flickered, signaling the start of the second half. We grinned at each other and Steve ran to the stage door...
So in two days he is playing at the old Town Hall in Mount Morris and I'll (we'll) be there to see one of the all time best singer/songwriters of the entire folk era/movement/revival. Yippee!

Well in this new blog o space, I thought I would look for people with common interests... when I clicked on Wil Maring, your name came up, when I rolled down in your blog, I saw this fine picture of Cindy and Steve...
Both have been artists at my fledgling House concert series... I plan on about 4 a year... next up a fine singer and flutist Norah Rendell with her husband Brian Miller.. you know them too?
