Old Empty Hall - Jim Clare

Another Internet singer/songwriter pal of mine has a new CD out. Jim Clare hails from rural upstate New York. I met Jim on Facebook through some other string pluckers, all of whom are guilty of committing folk music.

As a rule Jim and I communicate weekly, pontificating on the virtues of our respective dump runs. We closely document the habits of the gentry and activities that surround the regular pilgrimage. Mr. Clare is an astute judge of the human experience and it is reflected beautifully in Old Empty Hall.

All 12 songs on the CD are self-penned, or collaborations with his friend Mark Teachey. Jim's songs tell stories. Some are based upon historic events, while I'm sure others are the result of his own life's odyssey. I find this an altogether wonderful musical reflection on Americana past and present.

When I first listened to the CD I found myself pushing the "repeat" button on several of the tracks, something I don't usually do... This album crept into the nooks and crannies in the attic between my ears. And it brushed away cobwebs I might have expected to find in an Old Empty Hall. Visit Jim at: http://www.jimclare.org/

While I was reading about Jim Clare on your blog, your playlist kicked in. Ended up listening to it for the last three hours or so while paying bills and sifting through paperwork. Your music was the best part of this afternoon! Thanks for the tunes ~ Eileen
